Works much better on a boy, in my opinion. I would assume male if I was just reading it somewhere. I think I’d find it cool and interesting on a non-English speaker. The -ot ending makes me think of Poirot and Turindot, which are not bad or un-namey associations. But I might find it a bit strange if Jen or Amy at the local playgroup named their child this.

I don't think it works as a name at all.

I love Peridot. It feels very unisex to me.

How are you pronouncing it? With a silent T, I think it’s alright. But with the T it just sounds like a robot name. I’m usually a big fan of gemstone names, but this is one I can’t hope on board with. Olivine (the mineral that Peridot is derived from) makes a great name IMO.

Are there regions where the T in Peridot gets pronounced?

I love it. One of my favorite names. It's also my birthstone, so that's cool.

I really like it and I've already fell in love with it lol

It's a pretty and I think underappreciated stone, that pretty lime green color. But I'm not sure Peridot really works as a name. You would think it had already gotten at least some use as a name like most other gem names, but it just hasn't.

I find it very gentle. I like it.

Not the prettiest gemstone name. But it’s unusual, cool, and nice for an August baby.
