Holly, 1000% I loathe Poppy and can't for the life of me, understand why it's so trendy. I can only hope that it doesn't enter the top 100, although it seems to be on its way there. 😮‍💨🙄
It sounds infantile, looks like a certain word (*coughs awkwardly* 💩) makes me think of poppy seeds/opium, and sounds like something a young child might call their dad. It just doesn't sound like a name at all and has no redeeming qualities.
The double 'P's also does it absolutely no favors. I can just imagine when a Poppy is spelling her name out loud. "P.O.PP..."
It's certainly a hard pass for me. I much rather see Polly used.

Holly. If for no other reason that I work in substance abuse treatment and the direct tie of the Poppy and the Opioid epidemic 😅 plus it's pretty cutesy. I could probably like it for an animal though. Might be a nice horse name.

Holly definitely.

Holly for sure. Poppy sounds weird and very childish to me.

HollyHolly is understated and elegant, a positive symbol, neither childish nor quaint, pleasant-sounding.
I feel like Poppy is basically the opposite of all that.

I love both, but I’d be more likely to choose Poppy. I love the flowers and think it’s a beautiful botanical name.

Poppy
I dislike both but Holly just rub's me the wrong way.

Holly is lovely and would be my pick, although I would avoid it at Christmastime due to cheesiness.I would like Poppy if people didn’t call their grandfathers that. It’s cute as a nn for Penelope, but even then there are other, better nns.
