Love the gem; find the name pretentious and unattractive. Not a pleasant sound.

This is my favorite gemstone name.

It's very dated and even quite ugly, in my opinion. Electra is way better.

Hi!I compare Amber and Ambra (the Italian form):*Amber in USA in 2022 was #542 (0.03%) with 566 babies. The highest peak of popularity was in 1986 when it was #13 (0.919) with 16954 babies.*Ambra in Italy in 2022 was #32 (0.594%) with 1130 babies. Its popularity peak was in 2021 when it reached 1171 babies (#32, 0.600%). I like both and I think that they are pretty contemporary. I prefer Ambra not only because it's Italian but also because the -bra sound is more definite than the -ber sound. In my opinion Ambra is too popular in Italy. I prefer it used as MN.Amber is ok and I have It in my PNL but I prefer other English names with a more pleasant sound.

I used to not like it at all, but then it grew on me. I think it's nice to have a name that has a more unique ending sound.

I've always liked the name. It's colorful and bright, but at the same time kind of quiet and calm.

I love the name Amber! You might have to be prepared for Amber alert jokes, though.

Amber is cute, it does have a kind of warmth to it. I have known dogs and people named this. I love the gemstone and colour. Amber is on the same wavelength as names like Brandy, Misty, Sherry, Crystal, and Jade. It's kind of the dated version of today's Nevaeh or Serenity. To me it very much reads as a kind of trashy 90s name. But I think that sort of aesthetic may be coming back into style.

Amber is a pretty common name in my age group, so I know many. I think that Amber is wonderful, and feel that it's overlooked nowadays.

That's interesting to me because I'm around the same age as you and I'm not sure I've met an Amber.

Whoa, really? That's awesome, lol. Maybe it's where I am, haha...

Fair enough! We are definitely in very different parts of the US.

Pretty, but I'm hearing it everywhere. I prefer other gem/rocky names like Jasper, Flint, Garnet or Diamond.
