Welcome to THE NIGHTINGALE'S NEST cher529s, esteemed guest. Enjoy your stay. Try not to get killed.

THE HOST Lord August Wulfstan Hastings, 7th Earl of Ashbourne AmoretTHE HOSTESS Lady Xanthe Rosmunda Hastings ishildTHE DUCHESS Her Grace Agnes Lucrezia Grenville, the Duchess of Somerset WillowBelle

The Duke of Somerset is doubtlessly the member of the gentry most beloved by the press. He has only been married to Agnes for six months - short enough that they are still seated together at dinner parties such as the one hosted by Lord August - there seems already to be trouble in paradise. His negligent behaviour is what initially sparked the friendship between his Agnes and Xanthe. They two women met at a garden party (as suggested by Laura B.) weeks away from Agnes' wedding. Though he was to wed Agnes shortly, and ought rightly to be besotted with his captivating bride-to-be, he was engaged in a deep discussion with a famous artist, and did not notice that Agnes was getting accosted by a rather persistent officer, and had to be rescued by Lady Xanthe, who pretended to be Agnes' formidable Aunt Agatha, whom she had known from her schoolgirl days and knew to be a force to be reckoned with.It is a mystery how anyone could resist the most coveted girl in London, but Agnes seems not to interest the Duke at all. Beneath his veneer of respectability and genialty is a man of complex moods and unorthodox tastes. He seems to the outside world to be an exuberant, romantic, swashbuckling man, and that is how Agnes saw him too - before they were wed. Now, she finds she cannot penetrate the recesses of her husband's mind. While he lavished her with affection early on in their courtship, he now shows far more interest in maintaining his estate (especially his gardens - him and Lady Xanthe have engaged in much playful competition with regard to their respective rose gardens) and hunting with his beloved hounds. It is certain he keeps secrets from his wife - but what are they? His Grace _______ _______ Grenville, Duke of Somersethttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/FavouriteFirst name: the name of a royal who had a notable Favourite (see above link).Middle name: the name of that royal's Favourite. (see above link).BONUS (optional, just for fun - I may or may not take inspiration): Are there any clues in the Duke's past or family history that could shed light on his current behaviour and potential secrets? 🕊️❣️🌻💌🌻❣️🕊️masculine list: https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/191050/124079

His Grace Frederick Shophios Grenville Duke of SomersetThe Duke of Somerset has rarely been interested in women, however before he was betrothed to Agnes he had an affair with a German Swabian woman.
It was one of the only times he had ever felt something for a woman but the Swabian was uninterested in something serious, or perhaps was she just trying to get something from the Duke? after the Duke's family found out about the outrageous affair with the Swabian mistress they quickly made sure to remove her from his life and married him to a good English woman from a well-respected family, Agnes. The male gardener caught the eye of the duke. The duke was waiting for the lad in the garden. The Gardener was a beautiful Sicilian man whose curls resembled David's statue. He was a talented young man with whom the duke had a conversation before and was surprisingly very knowledgeable.
Lady Kanthe saw him standing alone and thought he was waiting for her. Lady Xanthe was very playful and a bit drunk when saw the duke standing alone he tried to distance but she insisted he would stay. The duke believed that refusing her company would have bad outcomes, so he chose to stay despite the discomfort.

His Grace Christian Conrad Grenville, Duke of SomersetWith respect to the Duke's charismatic and unstable behavior, it is rumored that his family tree includes an illegitimate branch of the Spanish Habsburgs. The existence of DNA not having been discovered at the time of our story, the rumors may not be proven or disproven until some time in the future.*****
