I checked the comments section for the name Nevaeh, and I sensed that not many people on this site like the name. Specifically, people didn't like the fact that it is invented ("heaven" spelled backwards), and therefore has no meaning. I racked my brain to think of a "legitimate" phonetic equivalent and came up with Nevea, from "neve", which is Italian for "snow". Nevea could be a modern variant of Neva.
So here's my question for those of you who hate Nevaeh: if the name were spelled Nevea (and therefore had an actual meaning), would you like the name? Assume it's pronounced like ne-VAY-uh. I found that, although Nevaeh is a name I could never give a child, I liked Nevea.

Wow...that's crazy my like 3rd cousin or something just got a foster baby who's name was Neveah. She didn't name her that it was already her name...but my cousin thought it was quite funny it was 'heaven' spelled backwards...but all the same she wasn't a huge fan of it...

I'm okay with respelling it to be phonetic. Nevaeh's a real name, "means" heaven backwards, and Nevea's an alternate spelling. Personally, I'd spell it Nevaea or Neveia because it's more phonetic. I think the "snow" meaning is kind of artificial, but if you derived Nevea from Neva, then you did - nobody can argue. Nevea is a nicer spelling than Nevaeh, in my opinion; it's simpler and more phonetic. I think the "based on Neva" thing is nice. Just artificial.
I think you'd be more honest to just shamelessly say you invented Nevea and were inspired by Neva and Nevaeh. I mean, when you're talking about names such as Nevaeh, pretending to care about their "official" origin and meaning is kind of a joke. This is creative naming territory. Own it. Inventing an etymology won't get the approval of traditional namers - if you are worried about their approval, you'll have to call her Neva or Heaven.

I like Nevea. It has a nice sound to it and to me, sounds more Italian than made up. I would use it.

I'd still hate it, because the Heaven connection is just too strong and Nevea would just look like a cree8yv spelling of an already-made-up and contrived name. I don't like the sound anyway, I don't like Neve or Neva or Niamh, they're just ugly to me.
Also, there's a body lotion called Nivea which sounds fairly similar to Nevaeh/Nevea, so that's another strike against it.

Nevea is alright. Neveah is okay, too, but honestly Nevea just looks nicer. I never really had a problem with it. I would use Nevea, though, if I had to pick.

No matter how it's spelled
it never fails to remind me of Nivea, the brand of skin care products.
But if you're looking for something similar, why not considering Nevia? There's a Nevio, and it seems pretty rational that it could be feminized or have a feminine equivalent (like Santo and Santa, Nunzio and Nunzia, et cetera).

Nevea reminds of Nivea (the lotion brand) even though it's pronounced differently. It's slightly better than Nevaeh since the pronunciation actually works with the spelling, but it's still nms.

I don't know, I like the sound of Nevaeh, but I just don't like the background. I suppose if it had a real background I could consider it, but I don't think it would make the final cut.

I don't see Nevea as any less made up than Nevaeh, frankly. Nevaeh, even though I find it obnoxious, *is* at least a reversed version of a word. Nevea is simply a gratuitous alteration of an existing name, with no rationale except that it sounds like Nevaeh.
