Help[Opinions] WDYT of Leland?
I heard the name Leland on tv last night. I've heard/seen it a million times before, but it just never stuck w/me til now. It's really growing on me though. I hate -land names, like Scotland, Ireland, etc. b/c they are countries and that's what I think of - A land mark. But I really like Leland, and I was looking for any kind of feedback on the name. Do you like it? if not, why? Any comments are welcome, I'm just curious! thanks in advance!

Honestly, I can't stand the name, but that's just because of a horrible assosciation I have (was the name of my first elementary school. It was an inner-city school, and I hated it with a passion. It was horrible).
I suppose, as a name, it works. It isn't really that bad. I'd just remember my old school upon hearing it, and I currently cannot see it on a child.

Leland is also the name of the creepy dad in Twin Peaks, I think.

It's been on my favourites list for a while now. I think it has such a great sound (and I don't mind that it it's -land) and it works well with a lot of my favourite middle names. My ex-boyfriend has an adorable little half-brother named Leland. He never gets called Lee, but sometimes he gets Leo.

The only thing that comes to mind is the character Leland McKenzie in the 1980s TV series L.A. Law... So I think of an older, balding man with authority. Can't see the name Leland on a cute little baby boy, though :-)

It seems okay to me - the only association I have with it is that it was the name of a high school where I grew up. I can see why it appeals to you. I guess if anything it sounds modern, and vaguely nerdy to me the way Oliver does.

I don't like it sorry - it's too much of an Old English place name for me. I can't get a feel for it as a name at all. And also, in Australia in the 80s there was an outdoor adventure show - like a travel show before there were travel shows - called the Leland Brothers' World - I'm not sure if that's the way it was spelled but it was pronounced LAY-land and it reminds me too much of that.
