[Opinions] Erin and Megan
I'm struggling with these two names. I would never actually use them, because I know too many people named Erin/Megan but I've always loved the name Erin. I've also always been somewhat apathetic towards the name Megan (I thought it sounded a bit clumsy for some reason . . . I'm not quite sure why), but It's beginning to grow on me. What are you're thoughts? What do you think about both of the names? Which do you like best? Would you use them, or are they too common?

I think they're too common to use, but they are cute names. I'd have to say my favorite name of the two is Megan, but because of the popularity, I'd spell it Meghan.

Erin is alright, but it's never been a name that I've been that fond of. Megan however I've always really liked. I'd never use Erin, but I'd consider using Megan.

I adore both names. I would like to use them both BUT..my SIL is Erin and her daughter is Megan! :) But I think they are both pretty, feminine and not too frilly which I like.

They are too common for me, pluse I don't really like either. Especially since Erin sounds like Aaron, the boys' name. If I had to choose one, I'd choose Megan, spelled Meghan.

I have never met anyone named Erin, so I think the popularity must be to do with where you live. (I'm from the UK) I think it is pretty, though. I would never use it, however, as we are very close to Ireland and most people here would think of "Eire" when they saw it. I like the sound of Megan, but could never use it as I strongly dislike someone of that name. That is a very popular name here, too. I do love the nn Meg though, and Megan is my favourite longer name for that nn.

At one time, I loved them both but with heavy use, they've become less special. They're fine names, imo, in need of a rest.

Both seem very 80s to me and aren't really my style. They're not horrible, though. When I hear the name Erin, I think of the character from The Waltons, which for me, is a good association. If I were to use Megan, I'd change the spelling to Meghan. I've just always preferred it that way.I wouldn't use either one, not because they're too common, but just because they don't appeal to me as much as some other names. If I absolutely had to choose one, I'm honestly not sure which it would be. I could go either way...

I have always liked the name Megan. It's common, but it seems less dated than Erin does. Erin is decent, but it seems a bit too 80s/early 90's.
