I'd use it as a nickname, but I hate Lucille.Others:
Lucia (could be LOOSH-ah, loo-SEE-ah [my favorite] or loo-CHEE-ah)
Luciana (could be loo-see-AH-nah or loo-chee-AH-nah)
Lucianna (loo-see-ANN-ah or loo-chee-ANN-ah)
Lucienne
Lucienna
Lucinda

I like Lucy, but not Lucille.

I think that it's fine to use Lucy as a full name, but I'm not really a fan of this name because it sounds cutesy and lacks substance. Lucille is ok, but not really my style either. How about Lucia? It's beautiful, sophisticated sounding, and permits Lucy as a nickname. Others:
Luciana
Lucinda
Lucina
Lucienne
Lucretia

I'm the same way...I think Lucy is so sweet and feminine, but Lucille is dnmsaa. It seems very dated imo. I'd definitely use Lucy all on its own. I'm not as fond of any other similar names--Lucia, Luciana, Lucinda, etc. as I am of Lucy.

I'd use Lucy as a full name, considering it is a full name rather than a nickname (feminine form of Lucius), Lucille is the nn here (see the link, nn for Lucia.).

I prefer Lucy by itself

It could be used either alone or as a NN. If you aren't a fan of Lucille but love Lucy, then just go with Lucy! :)

I like it by itself. I'm like you, hate Lucille, but "I love Lucy!"

I love Lucy on its own and don't even associate it with Lucille, which I don't like at all. If I had to use Lucy as a nn, I would use Lucia as the full name. But, I think it's great on its own.

I like Lucille, but prefer as a mn. I love Lucy (hehe) on its own. I don't think it "needs" a formal name. But I prefer Lucinda slightly more than Lucille, and I prefer Lucy over both of them.

I'm like you- I really like Lucy, but I'm not fond of Lucille. I think Lucy can definitely stand on its own. Also, if you don't like Lucille, Lucy can be used as a nn for these names instead:Lucia
Luciana
Lucienne
Lucilla
Lucina
Lucinda
Lucinde
Lucine
Lucrece
Lucretia
Lucrezia
LucynaAnything you like?

I think Lucy is one of the few names that can definitely stand on its own as a name. I like it a lot, more than any long version of the name. That being said I do like Lucia and Lucinda but not Lucille.

Lucy is one of my favorite names and I'd use it as a full name. I don't care for Lucille, but I don't think Lucy needs it anyway.

I think that Lucy is nice as a name on its own, and doesn't need a longer form in my opinion if you prefer it as such (I like it either way).

I don't like either name, but I don't see anything wrong with using Lucy as a full name. It's been done for so long it is a full name in its own right.

i wouldn't use either. Overall I prefer Lucy as a nn because it seems to lack something as a given name.

I like Lucy as a name all in its own. I'm not overly fond of Lucille.

I like Lucy, but I don't like Lucille. I think Lucy is perfectly fine standing on its own, but I'm biased because I have a sister named Lucy. :)

It works fine either way--and either way, I like it. One of my roommate's favourite combos is Lucille Plath nn Lucy (or Luci, dunno how she'd spell it), and I think it's a wonderful choice. :)Array

I've liked both for a long time. I named a stuffed dog Lucy when I was eleven or so. Nowadays, I'd be hesitant to use it on its own because it does seem so NNy. I like Lucille, especially as a MN right now. There are a lot of really lovely Luc- names to pick from, too. Lucia, Lucinda, Lucrezia (even though it's a hard C, it could work), etc.

I'd just use Lucy. I don't really like Lucille and would never use it anyway.

I like it by itself, not as a nn for Lucille. Maybe it would be nice as a nn for Lucia, but I think it's fine on its own.

Personally, I'd use it as a nickname for Lucinda (or any number of Luc- names that aren't Lucille). I don't like it on its own.
