[Opinions] Remiel.

I really love Gabriel, but many people seem to think that it is too popular/common. So how about another of the seven archangels - Remiel?"Remiel is the angel of hope, and he is credited with two tasks: he is responsible for divine visions, and he guides the souls of the faithful into Heaven." - WikipediaPerhaps a touch too religious, but no more than Gabriel in the end.

Remiel is really nice, I prefer Gabriel though.

I like this name very much. It just sound so cool, you know? It's definitely different, but very tasteful and dignified. And the -iel ending is growing on me for male names; Jeremiel is another one that I like. Then again I also like Jeremiah and Jeremias, so it's kind of follows suit with another line of my naming tastes. If it comes down to nicknames, too, I like the potentials for Remiel--Remy or Remi are all that come to mind--a lot more than I like Gabe. Not that nicknames are an all-important issue, but it can be worth considering. What saves it from being way religious rather than having a regular mild religious connotation to me is that I'd never even heard it before I started posting on this site. The whole "names of the seven archangels" is just something I'd never come across before. And I agree--it's no more religious than Gabriel. Even less so, if you really wanted to get into that issue, because Gabriel is such a biblical heavyweight as far as all the message-bringing he's associated with. One of my guilty pleasure names, I might add, is Arcangelo. :-)

Is it pronounced REM-ee-elle or REM-eye-elle?Either way, I think I definitely prefer Gabriel (which I don't think is too common-climbing, yes, but not too popular yet IMO). Remiel is okay, but it seems a lot softer for some reason than Gabriel, not as strong.

I would pr it REM ee el. But can't be certain. I like Gabriel more too, do you know any personally? I've only ever met one in my life in Whistler, Canada when I was working. Also, I haven't met one baby recently named Gabriel, and I know *alot* of babies =)

I only know one Gabriel and he goes by Gabe and is 18. I know a lot of little kids and babies and I don't know one little Gabriel. The only other Gabriel I have heard of is Australian singer Tina Arena's 18 month old son.
