I love Vivian for a boy and Viviana, Vivienne, or even Vivia for a girl. (Vivien's acceptable, but personally I dislike it for a girl as it's so visually similar to Vivian.)I picture a Vivian as being a young handsome blond man in the late 19th century.Miranda

Young dark-haired, green-eyed boy living in today's time. Plays football/soccer(whichever way you say it)very well. Good student, but relativly quiet at school, until game time. Has a bit of a self proclaimed fashion trend that includes dome really nice scarves and hats(you know, the Jewel lyric's here-fashionably sensivtive, but too cool to care). An all-around good person.

The first thing that comes to mind is Vivien Leigh (a good thing, to me - I'm a die-hard GWTW fan). But still, I prefer Viviana.

Vivian was originally a boy's name, so I prefer it as such. Therefore, I think of a male when I hear that name (though of course I would often be wrong these days). For girls, I prefer Vivianne or Vivienne.

The girl called Vivian in my class when I was 8.
She always went around saying she was "A Waterbirth".
My mum said she had water on the brain.
She also coughed a lot because her mum didn't believe in doctors...
So I guess that's a bad association for me. :)

Vivian is one of my favorites. As Chrisell said in her post, the name's meaning is evident- it sounds very energetic. I picture a sweet, playful young boy or a handsome man with a sense of humor.

I think of a young woman from a place like Transylvania with lots of dark eye make-up. Don;t ask. :-S
