Personally, I'll reiterate that I like the name Amanda, despite our troll. I'll add that I think it's sweet and feminine, but not frilly. It's very old too (first appeared in 1221, probably), which for me adds a lot of substance and charm.

Personally I don't particularly like Amanda, Mandy isn't bad, but too nicknamey

I seriously dislike Amanda. The name has visual appeal to me, but the sound of it and all associations I have make it a bad name for me. I would never name my child Amanda.

Okay, I might be the only one, flying solo here, but I HATE the name Amanda. The name just turns me off, I gag. I dont find it attractive, I dont like the look of it, the sound of it, or the feel of it. Its just all wrong.

I did meet a Manda over the summer (not Amanda, but Manda as her full name), and I liked that. So maybe its just that extra A.

And, every Amanda I know is/was a real problem child. So no, I would NEVER use it.
