This is tough. I'm torn between Jonathan and Samuel. I think Jonathan, just because Samuel seems to automatically get shortened, and it's really only handsome to me as a full name.

Oscar is nice, but in the absence of a local Latino tradition where I live, I'm really only used to it as a dog or cat name - though there is always Oscar Pistorius, the Blade Runner. But he could carry anything off.

I heartily dislike Samuel, and all Sam names. Just one of those things. Jonathan isn't bad at all, though I find it rather limp and wimpy. I like Hugo enough to use it myself.
