I'll give it a 7...no, an 8. It would be fabulous to see on a real boy and it is definitely handsome.
Great ratings system. ;)

LOL, I quite like Josceline (and even Jocelyn) for a girl. For a boy, I'm afraid it's a no-go. My disdain isn't quite off the charts yet this will rank on the lower end -- I'd say about a 3.

7I like it a lot, even if I by far prefer Jocelyn, for a girl.

3-My disdain is mild but the words just aren't there to describe it.I think it might just be the sound as to me it almost sounds like a brand of fuel.

1...given the "for a boy, of course" qualification.

Joscelyn (this spelling) is used reasonably frequently where I live, as a male name;one of my husband's colleagues is called that. The difference is clear in the pronounciation to the completely French-speaking ear, but it goes right past me. :-0

8It doesn't strike me as unusable at all-- there are -lin names in use on boys and Joss is a decent nickname for either gender.

6.5, it averages out toIn real life, I'd probably say 5.
Hypothetically, like on some cool medieval dude, more like 8.Also the extremes of your rating system definitely made me laugh!

1I realise that it was originally masculine, but by now it's pretty much unuseable for a boy. It goes along with stuff like Evelyn, Vivian, Shirley, and Beverly - too heavily associated with girls to bring back for the boys.

I hate myself for it, but I prefer Joscelin for a girl. But I would still be happy to see it on a boy, so therefore I give it a 6.

3Merits: medieval looking. Quasi-androgynous first impression might amount to sex appeal on some bearers. +2Demerits: sounds almost exactly like jostlin' (this is TWO demerits - it really puts me off a lot); shortens to Joss (uck, sounds oafish, like Josh); quite liable to be mistaken for feminine name and misspelled Jocelyn which would be a big liability for some bearers. -4

-1. Sorry, but I think it is truly awful.
