Don't you hate it when you put up a poll and discover a mistake too late to fix it? I'm glad I caught the "Esmeralda" goof in time to relate it to all on the boards. But it irks me no end that anyone going straight to the polls didn't get that info. Ah, well. And I believe Niamh Estella should be Niamh Estela, to fit the Irish / Spanish category. Look at you, you gave me the benefit of the doubt and listed them as your favorites anyway. Thank you. :0)
Isabel Marina is a better combo than Isabelle Marina. I was hoisted by my own petard by the categories I chose to combine. I chose French and Russian together because it makes me think of the Russian emigrés to Paris after the Russian revolution. The Spanish / Irish category reminds me of (a) Spanish sailors fishing / trading off the west coast of Ireland (leading to the dark-haired, "black Irish"), (b) the San Patricio battalion in Mexico and (c) traces of Celtic culture still surviving in northwest Spain to this day. Ancient Romans and Germans make me think of barbarians and Roman cultures mingling. The other two categories were just thrown together for fun / a challenge. So that's a very long winded way of saying I had reasons for picking the not-best-variant choices for the combos.
Delfina is actually more tantalizing then Delphine. I must remember that. Thanks!
