I think it can stand alone, but the way I'm looking at it is this: would I want to go through life as a just-Gracie, or as a Grace-called-Gracie? And I'd have to go with the latter.

You could combo it with an Ee-name, like Grace Eliza, to get the Gracie sound without making it overly nicknamey.
