Re: kids I know / have met recently
Mary Charles and Collier are just weird, especially Collier. It's a surname in my family and a collier is someone who works down a coal mine. Not suitable as a name for a child, in my humble opinion, especially not a girl.Jacob, Elizabeth and Caroline are fine. Nothing unusual and they go together, although as I've said before, it's unusual for me to see Caroline on a child. I don't think I know any younger than 30.Magnolia I like. It's a shame to shorten it to Maggie but not that bad. Emmett I don't like. It reminds me of the weedy neighbour in Keeping Up Appearances. I also think in Cornwall ants are referred to as emmetts so I think of that. Georgia is nice and sophisticated. Gigi is ok. Personally, if I had a Georgia I'd use Georgie as a nickname, I hadn't thought of Gigi.

Ha! I didn't know that about collier, the coal thing. I find it hilarious as this family is most definitely putting on airs.Copying the southern upperclass is like the thing to do right now among white southern yuppies, and it's so freaking annoying. But sadly it gives me a bit of glee to imagine their reactions to a real life British person saying their choices are weird.
