Re: Cousin announced name for her child due in September...WDYT?
I love Cade. I'm happy to see it used as a middle name, but I'd be happier to see Cade Emerson rather than Emerson Cade. I don't care for Emerson as a first name. If it's a family name, I can see using it a middle name, but I'd still avoid it as a first name. Do you think there's any chance he'll be called Emmy? I'd hate Emerson for a girl, also, but at least there'd be the chance of that feminine nickname. It's not a chance I'd want to take with a boy.So yeah, big thumbs down on Emerson, big thumbs up for Cade.I must say Colton is the eye-rollingest name of all time.

In our experience with our (boy) Emerson, only one person has called him Emmy and we just asked them not to. Our Emerson gets shortened to Emers a lot. Or Emer ("emmer") or Em or Ems. I thought we might use Sonny, but we haven't.
