I think that could work. Most people don't know the name Priya, so they won't associate it with India immediately.
Personally, I think it could grow on me.

A very good friend of mine had her daughter just before me (she is 6mo now)... blond hair and big blue eyes...
her name is Priya Jordan. I was unsure, but it seems to work just fine and most people haven't heard of the name to judge it Indian-only.

I think it would be fine. I like the sound of Priya.
If I were the parent considering it, though, I'd ask my friends who are Indian immigrants what they thought about it. Maybe get some insight into their associations with the name.

Priya makes me think of an Indian type girl.

I don't see why not. What a gorgeous combo! Priya is apparently in the top 300 in England/Wales, so I really don't think there's a reason to worry. I think it would splendidly.

There is a large Indian community in the UK, though, so I expect only a handful of baby Priyas are White British, if any at all.

It's funny. Here in Australia I know 3 Priya's and all three are white and not from Indian backgrounds!

My thought exactly.

It's lovely, but Priya would be wrong on someone who is not is not of Indian descent, imo.

Well, Priya was the name of a character on The Big Bang Theory. Even though the character was Indian, many parents heard the name for the first time. My guess is that it will boom, enthicity irrelevant.
Though, I agree that it resonates strongly with it's Indian origin for me.

I think it's an incredibly lovely combination! But, being White British myself, I don't really feel I can say whether it works or not.ETA This was kind of unhelpful. Sorry.
