If I were the parent considering it, though, I'd ask my friends who are Indian immigrants what they thought about it. Maybe get some insight into their associations with the name.

Priya makes me think of an Indian type girl.
I don't see why not. What a gorgeous combo! Priya is apparently in the top 300 in England/Wales, so I really don't think there's a reason to worry. I think it would splendidly.
It's lovely, but Priya would be wrong on someone who is not is not of Indian descent, imo.
Well, Priya was the name of a character on The Big Bang Theory. Even though the character was Indian, many parents heard the name for the first time.

I think it's an incredibly lovely combination! But, being White British myself, I don't really feel I can say whether it works or not.
