Re: BTN's Favorite Names 2014 (updated)
Thank you so much for all this, it's so interesting!! It's great comparing my own top tens to this. I've have Eleanor, Alice, Helena, Lyra, Lily, Luna, Astrid, Juliet, Viola, Stella, Clara, Cecilia, Marina, Lucy, Margot, Beatrice, Arthur, Alexander, Leo, Oliver, Charles, Evander, Jasper, Roman, Edmund, Julian and Jude in my top tens throughout the year. It's funny how we seem more diverse in our choices of girls' names. Less people have the top girls names than the top boys names. (Slightly insecure about my prowess with numbers - but that's right, right?) I know I'm most definitely more diverse with my girls' names. I have a much, much longer of favourite girls' names than boys'. Thanks again for this brilliant data!

That's right. There's way more girls names on the list (901 girls names this year, only 778 boys names), so the data is a lot more spread out, so the numbers are lower (which is why I could only do a top 22 for girls while I could get to 30 for boys. If I went any further for girls, the lists would have gotten very long. For that reason, the girl's #1 name has changed way more frequently than the boys:2008: Anna
2009: Iris
2010: Alice
2011: Alice
2012: Iris
2013: Rose
2014: Eleanor 2008: Henry
2009: Henry
2010: William
2011: Henry
2012: Theodore
2013: Henry
2014: Arthur(I was about to say it happens in real life too, but just looked and found out that the top girl's names have consistently had higher numbers than the boys since 2008 [but before that, it was always boys with the higher numbers]. Which only convinces me more there's going to be some major changes soon on the boy's SSA list).
