Penelope is very sweet and I think of it as a smart name too. I like Penny as a nickname.
Derek is okay, but kind of ordinary for me, a kid of the 80s. Feels like it came from a soap opera back then, but maybe that's just me. I like Eric and Merrick better.
Edgar - the gar sound is quite ugly to me.
