My best friend growing up was Erin and her mom was Karen. Erin's middle name was Caitlin which is another connection to Karen. I think the closest I'd go is Katherine or Emmeline. Neither are very close but people always confuse Katherine with Caroline and Emmeline has the same ending. I've thought about naming a daughter Caroline as a kind of "girls can do this too" tradition starter, but then I'm like, meh, I don't love the tradition anyway. It's like "I'd like to have a child who's exactly like me, with the same name and everything, so that I may live vicariously through her!"

People do confuse Catherine and Caroline a lot. Says a Catherine with a sister named Caroline. :P

Agree.It's one thing to give a child a parents' name as middle name or to use the parents' middle name, but to give the exact same name does bug me. I like the fact that M is connected to me - and I like that I continued a family tradition. But I certainly wouldn't want a Haven Junior!
