Re: My Bottom 10 names
While most of these names aren't to my taste, I am not quite as strongly opposed to them as you appear to be. Also please be aware that these are people's names, so have a little respect for the bearer of the name even if you don't care for their parents' taste. 1. Jayden- It had a hot flash of popularity and then became rather dated, and the 'y' does seem superfluous. The Jay part always reminds me of Blue Jays.
2. Kayla/Kaylee/Kaylin- Kayla is the Yiddish form of a Hebrew name meaning "crown of laurel." Laurels are the symbol of victory. Caileigh is the Anglicized form of the Gaelic word ceilidh, a traditional social gathering and dance. Kaylee is the combination of the names Kay and Lee, which really isn't any worse than names like Marianne. I wouldn't use these names myself, but they are not totally indefensible.
3. Nevaeh- tries a little too hard, but I'm not utterly dead set against all creative efforts.
4. Genesis- The first book of the Bible and is also a part of the Torah. Genesis's meaning refers to beginnings. It starts with creation and Adam and Eve. It is a richly historical and religious name that has nothing to do with Jennifer. Admittedly, I prefer it as a word and title rather than using it as a name, but it is still fine.
5. Skylar- reminds me of a villain in a book. I prefer it for girls over boys.
6. Kyler- never heard of it before. It does sound like a mispronunciation of Kyle or Tyler.
7. Lyric- dislike, but the parents could have perfectly normal intelligence.
8. Morgan- Lovely for either a boy or a girl. For girls it reminds me of Morgan Le Fey, who was not bad in earlier renditions of the story and always interesting.
9. Sadie- more of a pet name or nick name. It's not any worse than Sally.
10. Julian- Nice, handsome boys name
