Re: Need some ideas
I named my daughter Beatrice, which was my mother's only given name. She died before her granddaughter was born, but I can't see why it might have been a problem, weird or too much. She would probably have tried to change my mind - she didn't mind her name but disliked all the short forms - but not too hard; she would have respected our choice.Paul and Myrtle? Sounds excellent to me; retro but edgy.I know identical twins whose surname is Anthony; their given names are Paul and Peter. And there's another brother whom I don't know named Mark!

Paul and Peter is so cute for twins, I love it. Beatrice is my middle name, it's my paternal grandmother's name too.
I've got no idea how my father felt about his name. I can imagine my mother wouldn't be too pleased about me using Paul. But I don't see her very often.

You share his DNA; your mother doesn't. End of story.A friend of mine divorced her philandering husband and brought up their three sons extremely well on very little money. The boys continued to see their father and got on well with him while understanding their mother's feelings. When her first grandson was born, he was given his naughty grandfather's name as his mn, so the reference was there, Grandpa was happy but Grandma didn't have to use a name she'd come to dislike. However, your situation seems to be different ... really, I'd go for it. Why not?

I guess you're right. My mother never really bothered to ask me how I feel about my dad. We haven't talked about him in over 5 years.
