I really like Thalia, however I probably wouldn't use it, since we have a book store over here that carries this name.
I pronounce it tah-LEE-ah.
I'm not a fan of nicknames, but Lia probably makes the most sense.
I like Thaleia, too, but I'm sure people would misspell her.

I like Thalia and Thaleia, the latter being an especially pretty spelling. I know it's supposed to be said with the -th- but every time I see it my first instinct is to say it like Talia with -t-. I like both ways honestly.

I love Thalia! I do prefer the Thaleia spelling, simply because I have a thing for 7 letter names. The fact Thalia/Thaleia was the muse of comedy in Greek mythology was a major attraction for me. Plus I love the meaning (to flourish). I say THAY-lee-uh, which is my favourite pronunciation (I like the ay sound). I think it can be said Thal-ee-uh too, but I'm not a fan of that pronunciation.

I don't like that initial th sound. I'd pronounce it Thayl-ya or Thayl-ee-a.
I like Larry McMurtry's series of books, beginning with The Last Picture Show, set in the town of Thalia, Texas. There actually is a Thalia, Texas, but it's not the one in the books. In the movies, which were not as good as the books by a long shot, the name of the town has been changed to Anarene, maybe because of the real town of Thalia?

I pronounce it THAL-ee-uh, but it's one of those names where I would want to ask for clarification. I know one Thalia, a Spanish speaker, and she pronounces it tah-LEE-uh. I'd intuitively pronounce Thaleia as tha-LAY-uh, so if that's the pronunciation you're going for, I think it's clearer that way.
