Re: What is the weirdest name you have heard?
in reply to a message by KJ
Probably the most unusual I've come across in real life is Kayum. It's strange to me because I was told it was a blend of Karen and Mark (the parents' names) but I can't quite see that myself. I have recently heard of someone else with a boy named Kayum so perhaps it is a legit name.My friend has a relative named Swaley (not sure on spelling). I have no idea where the mother(whose name is Fifi) got it from, although there were a handful born in the same year so not made up. Her other children have ordinary, popular names.Someone I once knew had a daughter named Keatlyn which I've not seen before or since. I guess it's just a variant of Kaitlyn/Caitlin.A friend has a daughter named Beatriz, pronounced as Beatrice. I have never understood why they chose that spelling as they have no Spanish connection at all and I imagine it causes a lot of confusion. Those aren't as weird as some but the vast majority of people I know choose very normal (boring!) names for their kids.

The only blended name I've come across is Claudria;mother is Gloria, father is Claude. I think it's successful, perhaps because I know the young woman, nice girl.

I think Claudria is quite pretty, but Claudia is a 'real' name which works just as well so I'd have gone with that.

Adore Beatriz. It is my favorite variation of the name. I also do not see the Kayum, Karen and Mark connection, but I love blended names. We seriously (for about five minutes) considered Julidi, Judi, Helius and Dijuli as combos of our names... but our letters just don't match!I have a friend named Shahane (sha-hahn-eh). I think her name is just lovely and it is a combo of her parents names Handford and Shaniya. She married a man named Tam and they just named their daughter Shantelle... so "shan" from mom "t" from dad and "elle" because she is a girl.
