Baylor
A facebook "friend" (as in, someone who was in my class in school who I now spy on on facebook) has just welcomed a daughter - Baylor Taegan Renee.
Sister to Kallum and Alysha Lola Honey. No idea about Kallum's middle names, if any. Alysha was born about 2 years ago and I can't be bothered to sift further to find out an more name info.Earlier fb baby-chat suggest it was a toss-up between Baylor, Khloe, Kleo, Rhianna and Karlie. Kleo Taegan Renee and Rhianna Karlie Taegan were front runners - Renee is one of the grandmothers and Karlie is the mother's best friend (I also went to school with her). After all that, Baylor Taegan Renee was randomly announced on fb this weekend, born to Lucinda and Ricky.
I was fascinated by the whole thing because I find her taste in names just...terrible, to be honest.Baylor has stuck with me. I can forgive Kallum as Callum, and even though I really don't like Callum it's a name people often use. Same, in some way, with Alysha. Baylor, though...is just horrible. I'm sorry. I hate it.I saw it somewhere else recently and I can’t remember where, but Baylor has certainly be used by someone else. As a name, it just bugs me irrationally.Anyway, what do you think of Baylor? And of the sibset as a whole?

One-Eyed Baylor, or "Baylor of the Poison Eye," was one of the Formorians in Irish myth, essentially a monster famous for his eye that killed people with a look. (I think he was finally defeated by being tricked into looking at his reflection in a lake, but I'll have to double-check.)I cannot understand why someone would name their daughter Baylor... That's worse than Charybdis...
EDIT: Just looked it up, the mythological character is actually Balor, but I wonder if it's pronounced as BA-lor (with a short 'a') or the same as Baylor. In any event, he was actually killed by Lugh, with a slingshot to the eye that drove the eye out of the back of his head, which then killed his army when it looked upon them. Gruesome stuff.

Funnily enough, there's a legend involving Balor in the county my father's family's from in Ireland... but before I read down to your edit comment I was comically confused trying to fit Baylor into traditional Irish mythology! Even though they're not the same name, they can clearly be confused! That's another strike against Baylor (which I still hate) in my book.

Baylor: 0/10
Taegan: 4/10
Renee: 7/10 (Descent middle name)

It brings to mind hay-balers and bailiffs, they've obviously got it off the telly and the poor kid probably has years ahead of her explaining that no, it's not Taylor or Bailey. But maybe not:

Idk, I actually don't think Baylor's too bad (and it's the best out of the names they were considering IMO), though I'd like it on a boy much more. It doesn't do much for me on a girl. And the combo is a bit much. The spellings they've chosen aren't my thing at all, but a sibset of Callum, Alisha, and Baylor wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. (I'd prefer Alicia to Alisha, but I know that's pronounced differently in the UK, so.)

There was a girl named Baylor on the last "Survivor"(CBS reality tv show.)It was a "Blood vs Water", she was on with her mother.
This Baylor was about age 20. I'd never name a child Baylor, but don't dislike it severly. The Kallum with a "K" is worse, looks like something out of The Hobbit.

Of all the options, Baylor is the most likely to not be consistently misspelled. Her name is definitely not my style, but it's not the most terrible in the world. All in all, the combo's a bit heavy on the A sound (assuming Taegan is pronounce TAY-gin).Kallum, Alysha, and Baylor make a reasonable sibset. The names are all a similar style and they go well together.

I named my first car, Baylor, so that's the only thing I can think of now whenever I see the name. Kallum, Alysha, and Baylor is a horrible sibset, but I'm sure there's way worse ones out there.

Oh, yeah, there are worse sibsets out there. What prompted you to name your car Baylor, may I ask? It's an...interesting choice. That said, I know people who named their cars Flick, Sasha and Ralph, but that was all due to the numberplates.

When I first looked and drove it, Baylor just popped into my head and it stuck. I also don't have association with Baylor University in Texas. My new car is named Luci. Even though I have a late great aunt named Lucy and my confirmation name is Lucy, it's not the reason, it just popped in my head and stuck like Baylor did.

Luci's kinda cute for a car, though. I think it's the 'i' that makes it more cutesy than human-like Lucy.Edit: If you saw my reponse before the edit, ignore my comment about unis - wrong person, I think!

Baylor University is a private school in Texas. I'd assume that they (or at least one of them) went to college there. It's like a cross between Bailey and Taylor. It's not the worst name. Kallum, Alysha, and Baylor- not loving it, but not gagging either.

That's where I know the name!!I kept thinking it was familiar while reading the first post. I actually am not totally turned off by Baylor. I like the sound and the spelling is quite concise and logical. However, the sibset as a whole is pretty aweful imo. Baylor is the nicest of the three names.

I never knew that.Given that we're in the UK, I don't think there're much of a personal link to the university and I don't get the impression that there's any honouring in mind. I could be wrong, but I strongly doubt it.Edit: I knew that Lucinda left school at legal age, but a friend more in the loop than I thinks Ricky attended a local tech college for a bit. No link to Baylor U. Ah, well, it was a theory.

Baylor is horrible and the sibset is horrible. I have a dated name, but sometimes when I see the terrible awful names being given to girls these days, I'm grateful that I do.

Baylor is awful. It reminds me of the Great Sept of Baelor from A Song of Ice and Fire, but it's both unisex and completely unsuitable for anyone of any gender.
I like Rhianna, it reminds me of Rihanna, which is unfortunate, but other than that it's a nice name. Much better than Baylor.
Kallum is nms and unattractive looking, but it sounds fine. Same with Alysha. Baylor is just too out there to even fit with the "unique but not really" vibe of Kallum and Alysha.
I agree, she has pretty bad taste in names.
