"Joke" Names
Does anyone ever spend time making up combinations that make puns/words/references, etc.?For example, I used to imagine telling people, whenever I got pregnant down the road, that I planned on naming a son Leopold Benjamin, or Leoben for short. (Leoben is the name a cylon uses in the Battlestar Galactica reboot.)Recently, my boyfriend and I were discussing names. His favorite name for a boy is Adam. He's really into comics, so I jokingly suggested Adam Antium. (Adamantium is what Wolverine's bones are bonded to.)His favorite name for a girl is Sara, and the other day, I came up with Sara Nadine. (Serenading)To be clear, these are not names I have any intention of using. So what do you think? And if you've ever engaged in this pastime, what are some of the names you've come up with? -----------------------------------------
Current favorites:
Callum / Tristram / Benedict / Hamish
Cordelia / Winifred / Edith / MargaretVote on my name list? Pretty, please? http://www.behindthename.com/pnl/114016

I do sometimes get sucked into doing that but I rarely, if ever, come up with anything anybody thinks is funny. My puns tend to be not very good, and without a context to make them jokes, they're just not funny. There was this http://www.behindthename.com/bb/baby/4484352here are some stretches:
Howie Noah Nathan
Lefteris Evander
Barak Ross
Iphigenia Cindy Batel
Oliver DeforestOh and you might enjoy the Car Talk Credits, although this uses made-up last names like Antium:

While I don't spend time thinking about joke names, there are two people in my town who would fall into that category.Richard "Dick" Head
-I've never met him, but my mom has had a claim with him for insurance. And he does go by Dick.Crystal Meth
-True story. I taught her older brother, Gunnar Bear, in vacation Bible school.

I do this all the time. Not usually on purpose. I think of a combo and sometimes it sounds a bit too familiar and I come to realize it sounds a bit like a phrase. Unfortunately nothing springs to mind at the moment to share.

I think Adam Antium could be fun if one were really into X-men. I mean, Adam's a nice name on it's own, and revealing your middle name, is up to the bearer and doesn't come up that often (if he weren't particularly proud of the pun.) I personally think it's be fun :)I just recently came across an old man named Winter Haze. At my high school there were pics of old school sports teams and students on the walls- a basketball player from the 60s/70s had the unfortunate name of Jack Imhoff..,

I used to do that for fun occasionally. And I always keep a lookout for such names in real life.
Gracie Knoll?
Robin Banks?
Pat Butts? (I think I heard of an actual person named this)
Anita Walker
Lisa House
Crystal Ball
Brandon Iron
Frank Lee
Jack Dawes? And I have a friend who twenty years ago dated a guy named Ronald McDonald. He was born before the clown came on the scene, but the silly rhyme alone makes it a terrible name to bear.

I don't ever actually spend time on these but sometimes some of them come to me.. Adam Antium is great xDMy current favourites are boy/girl twins named Harley Quinn and Mari Annette (harlequin and marionette) and Anna Clare for a girl (an eclair). And don't get me started on all the things you can do with Isabella (is a bell a...?) because I'll never stop! And yes, I agree that they're not for real life. That would just be unfair. But they're fun :)
