Well, personally I wouldn't choose Farris in your situation but if you are completely set on it then whatever floats your boat I guess.
If you want the pronunciation "fehr-ISS" like the Ferris wheel then I would go with Farris, I would pronounce Faris as FAH-ris. with a very short second syllable.
I'm not sure why having a Muslim name would cause you problems on job applications. Are you like a butcher?
