Golden's brother (and Vega's brother)
A friend of mine is going to have his first baby tomorrow, a little boy. I've been dying for this baby to be born for forever because the baby's half sister is called Golden and I can't wait to see what they pick for her brother. Golden is nms, but it most definitely is an interesting pick.So any guesses on what they will choose tomorrow? What would you name a little brother to Golden? Also, one of my girls has a best friend called Vega, and Vega is also getting a little brother in July. Her parents have decided to name the baby Oliver, but 5 yr old Vega has other ideas. She's adamant that her brothers name will be Alex, and gave me a good telling off for referring to him as "Baby Oliver" today. As names picked out by 5 year olds go, I think it could be a whole lot worse! I much prefer Oliver though. And one last baby boy- Sara's classmate at preschool has a new brother named Ben. I feel like it fits in perfectly with his older brothers Joe and Sam (the family is English, surprisingly enough!)

I believe Golden is Jewish as I know a few families with that last name, so it makes me want to suggest other traditionally Jewish-American first names:Reuben
Abram
Eitan
Levi
Eli
Noah
Joshua

Golden and Silverstar. Perhaps better Silver-Star.

Golden & Tanager
Golden & Taggart
Golden & Indigo
I have no idea. Golden is so random.Vega & Oliver is better than Vega & Alex. Joe, Sam & Ben fit very well together indeed.

Probably some surname name ... something less unusual than Golden. Something along the lines of Blake or Ryker or Hudson, maybe. I'll hope for something better, like Sebastian or August or Dashiell or Talan or Alden.Joe, Sam, and Ben - I feel like I've already met their father. heheVega and Oliver? That's odd. I don't have a problem with Vega - it's very decent for being so unusual and starry. But I don't really find the sound of it appealing. Is it VEG-a or VEE-ga? I def like Alex more than Oliver.

Oh, it's neither...It's pronounced with a vey sound - Vey-gah! I never even thought of it being pronounced another way. I really don't like Veg-ah or Vee-gah either! Her parents are Spanish and its quite popular in Spain. I think its really spunky and I love the star thing.I wouldn't be surprised if it was something less unusual than Golden, because this baby is being named by a different set of parents than Golden was, and also people are often more conservative with boys names than with girls. But my friend (Golden is his step daughter) is pretty out there himself, so I also wouldn't be surprised if they came out with something just as unusual. I guess we'll find out tomorrow. I'm really curious.

Sam, Joe and Ben make me think of the old TV Western "Bonanza." Just swap out Adam for Sam, add Little to Joe and you've got 'em.Golden is a dumb name.Vega reminds me of the ill-fated Chevy Vega, so the only possible brother is Yugo. lol My aunt had a Yugo way back when and she loved it, but when it fell apart it fell apart in a big way.Talking of five-year-olds naming siblings, there was a guy named Fritz on Jeopardy! the other night and told about how when he was being born his five-year-old sister was waiting with their dad , and asked what he'd be called. The father said, I think, Alex, or something like that, and the sister said "No, if I have to have a stupid name, he should have a stupid name too" and named him Fritz. Alex Trebek asked what the sister's name was but I didn't catch his answer.

A friend of my daughter-in-law was having a second baby, and they asked the older daughter for her suggestions for a name. She said, "Alison".
That seemed a mature choice for a little kid, age 5, I think, so the parents asked "Where did you hear that name?""Alison Wonderland", she replied.
