Don't have any examples from TV, but from books and manga: Once I didn't borrow a book set in 18th century Sweden because a character was called Linnea - a name that simply didn't exist then, because it's derived from a flower named after Carl Linnaeus who was still alive and working in 18th century Sweden. Linnea was first used as a girls' name in the 19th century.
In a manga set in Victorian England, I've found Karen, Lindy and even Drew used for girls.
