The movie "Home" and Rihanna...
We took Clarisse to see this movie at a local theatre (think stage, not movieplex), and the name of the main human character was . . .
. . . Gratuity Tucci!
nicknamed "Tip"
Opinions or comments?
Rihanna played the character.
Fun fact: Rihanna is actually pronounce rhee-anna, and that is what Rihanna was used to before pop culture mispronounced it as rhi-AH-nah, and decided that is how it should be said. It bothers her.

I had heard that about Rihanna's name; a friend saw it in an AP style guide or something.
Gratuity nn Tip is so obviously a joke it can't be seen as anything else.

Yeah. Clearly a joke. A funny one too.
What do you wanna bet that someone will use it now, though?
"Oh, Gratuity nicknamed Tip is soooo cute!"

It WAS quite funny.
I loved Home. Sheldon makes a great alien.
Gratituity is a great virtue and a ridiculous name. It's hard to find good virtues that are good names- though Faith, Grace, and Hope sound pretty, their meanings don't particulary make me happy. Charity is the reverse. It's my favourite virtue name, but doesn't sound particulary nice. Tip is cute. And Rihanna... Where I am the names Rhiannon, Rhian, and Rhianna are all very popular. I've always pronounced it ri-HAN-na, but I will make amends.

I like virtue names, but Gratuity seems a bit OTT for me. It was so ridiculous though, I loved it. Perfect for the movie.

I've only heard the rhee-anna prn.
I find Gratuity Tucci to be a bit OTT and there is a hint of repetition which is 50/50 for me. In regards to the pronunciation of Rihanna, the latter is, in general, what Americans would pronounce the name. Most of us Brits pronounce the former.
Hmm, I would have to disagree. I think that ree-anna is the natural pronunciation with an American accent. We would consider rhi-AH-nah to be a foreign or "posh" pronunciation. I think that is what prompted the public to think that is how she said the name.
I have known several Rhianna and Rhiannons in my life and they all used a hard "a" in pronunciation.
Kind've like Clara as klah-rah versus klaire-uh. The latter is more natural, the former more "fancy".

I thought everyone said Ree-Anna, its how her name is pronounced here in the uk
Really?
Good for you guys. I guess American TV is a bit more assuming. I have heard several interviews in which she tries in vain to get the reporter to pronounce her name right.
I actually really like the name Rihanna.
