Re: Making up names

Cheslyn is not my style at all.
I really like Aslana. It's pretty and regal sounding but not frilly.
Kerrison is good.
Jao is pretty good.
Lexton is average. Sounds a bit trendy.
I don't really like Hannette but I'm not sure why. Names it reminds me of: Harriette, Annette, Hannelore, Hannabeth, Hannabree, Hattienne. Also reminds me of Annexe, another Annette-related name I used for some character once.
Jodianne sounds too dated for me. I like some -anne names but not all, because a lot of them sound dated. Korianne is one I've met recently. Others... Lisanne, Alisanne, Rosanne, Lilianne, Ruthanne. There's also names like Julianne (another sort of dated one). I've also met a Morganne.
I like Sarabeth a lot. It's pretty and humble-sounding but not common. Like Annabeth but sounds slightly older. I like a lot of -beth names, actually. Sarabeth, Annabeth, Rosabeth, Carabeth, Lilibeth (Lilybeth?) etc.
Ciaralyn is meh (I like Ciara but I don't like "lyn" names in general). I'd prefer Ciaralin although that isn't as obviusly feminine. Ciarlin? Or is that too much like Carlin? Hmm...
