Re: Here are some names. Do what you do.
Pandora - quite lovely, but probably still too closely associated with the myth. Would likely be shortened to Dora, which could be good or bad.Bernadine - pretty neutral on this one. Prefer Bernadette, but that's probably because I've actually seen it (and I knew a lovely Bernadette once).Goldie - a bit too nick-namey. Prefer Marigold or even Golda, though Golda's really nms.Chantel - kind of dislike. I think it was a bit overused as a generic "singer" name in way too many shows when I was a kid? Either way, it just feels a bit tacky.Shirin - looks like an inventive spelling of/variation on Sharon. I'm not sure how it would be pronounced, so it confuses me.Ivona - almost feels like a last name, but I'm thinking Ivanova. In any case, I prefer Yvonne.April - very pretty. I think of April O'Neil from Ninja Turtles, but that's a generally positive association. I also think of the month of April, so the name feels very bright an fresh, like rain and flowers.Maybelle - feels very plain to me. I like May; I like Belle. I just don't like them glued together, I guess.Oona - dislike. Prefer Yuna, or Una pronounced like "You-na" / "You-nuh," the name of the character from Edmund Spenser's 'The Faerie Queene' (with the meaning "unity").Audrey - like very much. It's both feminine and strong.
