Help with modern Shakespeare names
I'm working on a modern adaptation of the Bard's Much Ado About Nothing. I've gender-swapped some of the characters and I'm looking for a feminine name for Benedick.
It needs to be French or work well in French, because instead of having the male/female dichotomy going on between Beatrice and Benedick, it's going to be francophone/anglophone.
I was thinking of going with a name with the same meaning, but for almost all the other characters I've found a similar modern variant, or kept them as-is, and I don't want to break that pattern. And I simply don't like Benedicte or any of the feminine variants of Benedict.
Worst-case scenario, I'll give her a hyphenated name, Benedicte-something, and have her go by the second name most of the time. But does anyone have a better idea?
