Umm... The only way August was available for adoption is if her parents had already relinquished parental custody. It isn't a question of if she would have been better off with her biological parents because they chose not to parent her, and generally, a child is better off with parents, through adoption or otherwise, than without any at all.

They chose not to parent her.Actually, you mean "rights" and not "custody", and both of these statements are probably true in this particular case, but may not necessarily be, and definitely are not in some cases. I question the extent to which any mother truly and freely gives up her infant for adoption.I refuse to use the term "biological parents" ever again.Anyway, this is about names, and the remark was meant facetiously.
