you should also repost this in the name games section. some there might enjoy it. and now, my answers...1) a child if you wanted to honor a loved one whose name you don't like
HERMIONE or maybe even ERMINE(like the animal) - as a middle name, to honor Herman2) a child of a blended family whose siblings on one side were Jude and Cleo and on the other side Elizabeth and Patrick - BENJAMIN or MAGGIE3) a child whose first and middle names are stereotypical or very common names from your own ethnic/cultural heritage - well, I'm mostly of Scottish and German descent so we'll go with ISLA ADELHEID or ROLAND FRASER
4) three or more siblings where the last letter of one name is the first initial of the next - I thought I'd see how many nice Welsh names from the namebank I could string together! :)
PADRIG - GWYNEIRA - ANEIRIN (nn NYE)- EMYR - RHYS - SIAN - NESTA - ARANRHOD - DAFYDD - DEINIOL - LLEW - WYN - NERYS - SIORUS - SIARL - LLINOS - LUNED - DERYN - NIA - ANDRAS - SIEFFRE - EURIG - GWILLYM - MACSEN - RHISIART - TRISTAN

Use their middle name, or their last or maiden name if it's usable as a first name and I liked it. The bottom line is, I have to like the name enough to want to use it even if I didn't have a loved one with that name that I wanted to commemorate. I'd even consider asking that person, if they were still alive, to pick a middle name.
2) a child of a blended family whose siblings on one side were Jude and Cleo and on the other side Elizabeth and Patrick
I think I'd just name it some name that I already liked rather than trying to find a balance between such a wildly different style of naming.
3) a child whose first and middle names are stereotypical or very common names from your own ethnic/cultural heritage
Well, I'm Cherokee and I don't have any experience or knowledge of actual Cherokee names; I have one cousin whose name is Tiana, which I was told at the time was a Cherokee name, but I don't know for sure and I've seen it used on other races as well so I can't say. Anyway, in my family people just have regular, familiar English/American names. So again, I guess I'd just choose a name I liked. Which is what we did.
4) three or more siblings where the last letter of one name is the first initial of the next
Valerie, Ellen, Noah, Heather, Rebecca, Andrew, William, Melissa, Ashley. And no more!

1.) If I was going to honor a loved one whose name I didn't like I would name the child Patience, as opposed to Patricia.2.) I'd name the child of the blended family Poppy, Iris, Oliver, or Max.3.) Stereotypical is a bit hard for me, I'm a weird combo of things. In the end though, I'll always be a farmer's daughter. My stereotypically named kids would be Katie Iris and James Michael. All inspired by my childhood friends and neighbors.4.) Pearl, Louis, and Sylvie without taking into account middle names.

1) a child if you wanted to honor a loved one whose name you don't like:
I'd give them the name as a middle name. I did this; my son's MN is my dad's FN (my dad is deceased). If I'm that motivated to honor someone, and am not just using a name I like that happens to honor someone, I'm motivated and I'm gonna do it.2) a child of a blended family whose siblings on one side were Jude and Cleo and on the other side Elizabeth and Patrick:
Whatever we wanted, without trying to respect the compromises of other couples. Which today would probably be something like Amy or Cyrus3) a child whose first and middle names are stereotypical or very common names from your own ethnic/cultural heritage:
Charlotte Victoria / Nicholas Robin ... I guess. I'm American of mostly British Isles and French origins and I guess these names are fairly stereotypical names for Americans. And I like them OK.4) three or more siblings where the last letter of one name is the first initial of the next:
Alexander, River (f), Raymond, Deirdre, Eric, Claudia
