Re: Finnish BAs
in reply to a message by Felie
Don't worry, it's nice to get long comments :)I get all my BAs from Helsingin Sanomat, which is the most popular newspaper in Finland. I usually pick the names from the Sunday issues, when HS publishes more family announcements (birth, engagement, wedding and obituaries). If I remember correctly, Casper Karl Maximilian's family had a Swedish last name. Finnish Swedes (= people who live in Finland and have Swedish as their mother tongue) usually prefer that type of names.Lyyli is a Finnish diminutive of Lyydia and Lydia. It's considered as a grandma name, though its popularity has risen in recent years. In fact, many other vintage Finnish names are popular again, such as Vieno, Hilja, Niilo and Aatos.
