Re: Italian names 2017 ! 2
in reply to a message by Felie
Elisa and Alessia are a bit too similar. I think they are usable together if she really loves it more than anything, but if there are other names she likes too I would suggest to go with something else. They are not only similar in sound, they also both feel like their best time is behind them. Not dated yet, but not exactly fresh either.Giulia is nice but it is so incredibly common that I would stay away from it. Ilaria seems dated, she seems to like names that were more common a few years ago :P Same with Serena and Sonia! I guess Serena and Sonia would almost be unusual for a child born nowadays! Virginia is nice and classic but has teasing potential, Gabriella and Valentina seem dated. Martina is also starting to sound tired. I would go with Noemi! Noemi is wonderful.Okay so Noemi is the best, in my opinion. Sonia is kind of cool because it would be nice to see this on a baby. Giulia is nice and classic but too common. Alessia is fine but close to Elisa.Still I would choose one of these, ranked in order of preference:1 Noemi
2 Giulia - ok I love the sound so much, but so common!
3 Sonia
4 Alessiathese are okay:5 Serena
6 Virginia
7 Ilaria
8 Gabriella
9 Valentina
10 MartinaBut none of these names are bad. They are all fine and perfectly usable!Suggestions:Naomi - close to Noemi but not so common
Selena - seems fresher than Serena
Giuliana - seems dated but less common than Giulia
Gloria - kind of similar to Giulia
Amelia or Amalia - same rhythm as Alessia but less common
Matilda - kind of similar to Martina
Alina - cross between Alessia and Martina :P Kind of.
