Will (for a girl!)
That title felt a bit like clickbait. Anyway.I was lamenting recently how Willie is pretty much unusable now because it’s such a sweet name on a girl, so then I got to thinking, what about just Will? As a nickname for Wilhelmina, Willow etc not on its own. Could the right girl pull it off? What do you think of it personally?http://www.behindthename.com/pnl/87410

I like it! I really love traditionally masculine names on girls, and I think Will works great! Also, sort of unrelated, but I like how you posted this on William Shakespeare's deathday (and maybe birthday). Nice way of (unintentionally) honoring him.

It might work as a nickname, but it seems too masculine for me.

I looove Will as a nickname for a girl! It's totally feasible. Wilhelmina "Will" calls to mind an Edwardian heroine.

I personally don't like Will at all. But I do like masculine nn on girls, so I guess as a nn it can work.

I think it stinks. And I can't see the point of Will-for-a-girl when Willa exists.

The thought of a girl being called Willy is hilarious! I can see Will as a short version of a couple of girls' names, but in itself it always would seem a boy's name to me

Willie was in the top 100 here for over 50 years. I don’t think it’s that bizarre, just a bit unfortunate now.Of course I don’t think the slang term is used nearly as much in the US as the UK.

I would go with Willa for a girl.

My son is called Will, and while I've always been meh about his full name, William, I love Will because to me it's so strong and masculine. So it stands to reason that I say no to Will on a girl.
