AlmanzoSadly, the name "Almanzo" has never been very popular. According to the Social Security Adminstration's statistics, there were less than 5 (if any at all) boys born on U.S. territories in the year 2000 and named "Almanzo".There were, however, 427 boys in the year 2000 who were named "Alonzo" -- this name often being the one mistakenly thought to have been Mr. Wilder's given name."Almanzo" appears to have been an invented name, as Almanzo Wilder claimed to have been given it due to there having been an ancestor in his family tree whose life during the Crusades had been saved by an Arab named "El Manzoor".-- Nanaea
