Well, I see no problem with returning to the original Pledge, which did not include the phrase "under God." Yeah, the guy who brought it up is an atheist (is there something wrong with that?) . . . according to him he wants to further separation of church and state. But he isn't the first to point it out.I think Pavlos's anagram pledge is far superior to any other possibilities, but what about custom pledges? :D Plenty of people don't believe in god, so we could all insert the appropriate beliefs in that place. [And don't take these seriously...]ATHEIST PLEDGE
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under nonexistant deities, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.AGNOSTIC PLEDGE
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation possibly under something, the existance of we can never prove one way or the other, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.BUDDHIST PLEDGE
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation striving for enlightenment, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.MUSLIM PLEDGE
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation possibly under Allah, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.Hm. I think I'll stop now.Well, in conclusion, whichever position you support in this matter, I hope everyone agrees that the death threats to the guy who brought it up are going overboard.
