The name 'Danika'
This is my favorite girl name and all my sources agree that it's from an Old Slavic word meaning "Morning Star, the plant Venus".Well, my question is...what is that "Old Slavic" element? Thanks in advance,Melina

The name is Danica and the 'c' is NOT pronounced as 'k'.

There *is* a name Danika, although you are right - the "c" is pronounced as "ts" or "tz"

I only meant that the name she is thinking of is with a 'tz' sound, not a 'k' as most English speakers think.BTW,thanx, I was never sure how to 'show' the 'tz' sound.

The old slavic element is "dennica"/"dennitsa" which is derived from "den" - day, and is the popular name for Venus/the Morning Star since it is the last star that disappers in the morning.
