I believe the 'el' in Hebrew signifies one specific god, IE God.My sources say Gili is Sumerian and means "to bend"."Gayil" is the Hebrew word for joy, as seen in the name Abigail (from Hebrew Avigayil, meaning My father rejoices)Mina

I know someone named Gili and that is what her name means. Gil in Hebrew also means joy and Gili means my joy. As far as Ella/Ela - it is true that El means God, but Ella/Ela is the feminine version of the name and it means goddess. ANcient Israelites had many gods and goddesses. El and Ashera(h) were the main ones
