Does anyone know anything about the girls name Dree? Origin/meaning?

What about Andrea? As a fem name, I've always heard it pronounced AN-dree-a, not an-DRAY-a like the male version. And you could shorten it to Dree very comfortably. (My son knows a Maria who goes by Ree. Same idea.)

Yes I think maybe it is a shortening of something. In the meantime I have managed to do a bit of searching and have found out that it is Mariel Hemmingways daughters name. Thanks for everyone's suggestions.

No idea unfortunately. I read it in a magazine years ago, it was a 'celebrity's' child but I have since forgotten who they were.
