Meaning "the beginning"?--
I am looking for a name that means "beginning". It is to go with Amaia meaning "the end". They are twins.
Any language and either gender will do.
The closest thing I found on btn was Janus, the Roman god of beginnings, but as this litterally means "archway" it wasn't really what I wanted.simply be

There's Genesis which means "the beginning" in Greek and Alpha which is also Greek, comes from the first letter of the alphabet but is used in reference to the beginning in the Bible.

The correspondent to the feminine Basque Amaia (meaning "the end") is the masculine Basque name Asier ("the beginning", from hasiera, "beginning"). Both of them where created by Francisco Navarro Villoslada for his novel Amaya o los vascos en el siglo VIII, in 19th c.
