Subject: Meaning of the word 'Goth'?
Author: Lucille   (Authenticated as Lucille)

A dead language, called Gothic, was spoken by the Goths (they were Germanic people) centuries and centuries ago. Because of the Gothic culture nowadays, I'm rather interested in the word 'Goth', it sounds so mysterious and all.

I would like to know what its original meaning is. Maybe it means 'God' (referring to the Germanic gods like Wotan)?

Thank you in advance!

Greetings,

Lucille
