What is the meaning of Alynne?
I am trying to find out what this name means. It is my middle name and I have always pondered about the meaning, culture, etc. I would really like if some one could help me find this out. Thank you.

There is a name Aline (pron. "Aleen")which is related to Adeline/Adele (which mean 'noble'). It dates back to medieval times. Otherwise, my first thought when I saw Alynne was that maybe it was a feminisation of Alan, or a twist on Lynne, or possibly both, as if your parents had wanted to honour an Alan and a Lynne. I've never come across Alynne before and my guess is that it's a modern creation, perhaps especially for you. But I could be wrong. Good luck on your quest! :-)

I know a girl whose middle name was Alyn, and her parents had made it up. My guess is that Alynne is just a twist on Lynn.

Or another thought is that it could be related to the Irish/Scottish names Eileen and Aileen/Ailin - I would be inclined to think that if you pronounce Alynne with a long "ay" or "eye" sound at the start. It would help if you told how it's pronounced?
