Afrikaans-speaking South Africans have a long tradition of using family names; since this can lead to several cousins identically named, they've developed some quite creative merger names. Elna can be one, from the popular combination of El-izabeth and Hele-na.
The meaning, other than: "Not identical with her cousins but still remembering Granny", would be Elizabeth + Helena.
It's also a brand of sewing machine.
