Hi!

I don't know the name Orvin, but if it is said to be originally German and means "boar", maybe it is an English variant of the German name Erwin which means "boar" + "friend".

It could be a variant of one of these as well:

Ortwin (head/tip of a weapon + friend)
Norwin (north + friend)
Gerwin (spear + friend)

Regards, Satu
